Brief Answer:
There is a fibroid in your uterus which is usually a harmless tumour

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing in to us.

Your ultrasound scan shows that there is a fibroid in the uterus. It is a benign and harmless tumour in most patients. It can cause symptoms like heavy bleeding or increase the duration of your bleeding during periods.

The size is 4.6 x 4.8 cm which is like a small golf ball. You need to check with your gynecologist and do follow up ultrasound scans after 3 to 6 months or as recommended. In some women a fibroid can decrease in size with medications. Few women might have an increase in the size after few months to years.

Hope your query is answered.
Please do write back if you have any doubts.

Brief Answer:
Complications can occur but most women have normal pregnancy

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

A fibroid can some times cause certain associated complications during pregnancy however this will not happen in every case. Some of the complications are listed below.
1. Increase in size
2. Pain and discomfort
3. Red degeneration of fibroid
4. Early labour and delivery by few weeks
5. There is very rare chance of a misscarriage

In spite of the above many women continue to have normal pregnancy even with fibroids.

Please discuss your condition with your gynecologist and then plan pregnancy.

Hope your query is answered.
