Brief Answer:
You need to wait and watch and monitor size of the Testis .

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query ,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that your son had undergone surgery for Torsion of the testis and operating surgeon has opted to preserve the Testis .

In majority of patients Torsion involves complete rotation of the testicle around the cord structures resulting into complete avascular necrosis of the testis making mandatory to remove the testis. However he has opted to preserve the testis This is most likely that he might have noticed blood supply to the testis might be precarious and might have noticed that it is worth to take a chance and preserve the testis

Subsequent follow up Scanning has revealed it to be smaller than its counterpart .

I would suggest you to do Color Doppler Study of the scrotum to see the status of vascularity of the affected Testis .

Further treatment will depend upon the result of the test .However you have to be prepared to accept the worst outcome.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions , I shall be happy to help you .
Thanks and Regards.

Brief Answer:
There is no need to remove it.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for follow up .

Follow up for one more year by monitoring with Ultrasound Scanning at frequent intervals of 2-3 months for one more year .

It the size remains static or does not increase you can leave it alone .There is no need to remove this testis. He will have a small poorly functioning Testis .But there is nothing to be worried as he has normal functioning testis on other side .

Thanks and Regards.
