Brief Answer:
There is no cause for worry.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. JDN refers to JuguloDigastric Lymph Nodes. These are one set of over 300 lymph nodes present normally in the head and neck region. These nodes drain the tonsil area and hence are usually related to tonsillitis.

2. Lymph nodes are normally not palpable, but after they enlarge in response to an infection or inflammation, they regress but not to their original size.

3. Sub - centimeter sized lymph nodes are considered insignificant, with higher tolerance to the JDN.

4. There is no cause for worry. Enlarged but non tender JDN signify chronic tonsillitis and are very common.

5. You can get a color dropper study and a USG guided FNAC ( Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology) done, but it is not mandatory. Take a course of medical treatment from your doctor and keep a follow up here if this problem persists.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.

Brief Answer:
Observation over the next few weeks is advised.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for writing back.

1. Reactive nodes means a non-specific inflammation response. They are unlikely to regress to their original size.

2. No active treatment is necessary.

2. You can wait for 2 to 3 months and then do a follow up USG Neck.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
