What Does This Ultrasonography Result Indicate?
Question: Hi,
Recently my wife had abdomen ultra-sonography. In the report, it was mentioned all liver, kidney, pancreas are normal but below is he final impression:
1. BILATERAL POLYCYSTIC OVARIES
2. FEATURES OF CERVICITIS
Both ovaries show multiple peripherally placed small follicles with mild central echogenic stroma. She is normal and perfect and get regular periods with out any delay. What does above symptoms signify? Please suggest if any action to be taken in this regard. -XXXX

Hi,
I understand Your concerns about polycystic ovary(PCO) and cervicitis.
Following is my reply:
1. PCO is a normal phenomenon in many women with follicles arranged in the periphery of ovaries. There is nothing to worry about it and no action needs to be taken.
2. Cervicitis is inflammation of the cervix. This needs to be treated by a course of antibiotics after examination by your gynecologist. This is not serious and can be done when you are free.
