Question: Hello,I went to an XXXXXXX on my holidays ,2 weeks ago. I had a little pain in perineum. I did ultrasound and he gave me to do a semen analysis and crop sperm The microbiological test was negative but the semen analysis was not good and in my semen analysis had teratospermia and welding sperm about 85 % and the motility was low. The doctor told me I have chronic prostatitis and gave me antibiotic for three weeks . I let you know I had a semen analysis and crop sperm 3 years ago and both was normal . I want to ask you what tests do I need to do now, to make sure why my sperm quality is so poor and what can I do to fix that problem .

thank you.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
Fortunately, unlike congenital and production disorders, sperm disorders which happen as a consequence of chronic prostatitis are usually temporary and sperm productions recover after the prostatitis is healed.
At this point, it would be good to finish antibiotic course and repeat spermatogram 2 weeks after antibiotic treatment. If there is still pathologic findings, you should so:
"Sperm penetration assay, also called the hamster egg test"
"Sperm antibody testing"and MRI of testicles to rule out varicocele or epididimal cyst.
PSA levels.

Treatment depends on exact cause. If this is just prostatitis then it may improve after the antibiotic course. IF there are other issues then there are specific medications which can be given and in most advanced cases, other fertilization methods may be considered.

Wish you good health. Regards

hi

Detailed Answer:
You re welcome.
There is no clear evidence that food may help but for sperm count and motility there are some nutritients required such as Zinc, vitamin K and D and some fatty acids. So some nutritionists recommend to add certain foods in your diet such as Walnuts, banana, onion, asparagus and broccoli. these contain necessary minerals and vitamins.
