What Does This Pelvic Ultrasound Report Indicate?
Question: Good morning. I am 39 years old and recently went for a pelvic ultrasound. The findings were:
1)A complex cyst in the left ovary measuring up to 21mm has an appearance most compatible with corpus luteum.
2) A heterogenous nodular focus in the right ovary measures approximately 19x14x21. This is nearly isoechoic to the surrounding parenchyma. An adjacent simple follicle measures 9mm.
It also says, in the impression, that the nodule may be physiologic but is indeterminate in appearance.
Having the sonogram repeated in 1 menstrual cycle as recommended.
Any info on this for me to understand is appreciated.

Brief Answer:
Repeat ultrasound after one month
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
The cyst in the left ovary is likely to be hemorrhagic cyst or corpus luteal cyst.
It is a physiological cyst which resolves on its own with time.
The nodule in the right ovary can be benign or malignant, and it should be investigated further with Doppler ultrasound.
It is rightly advised to get a repeat ultrasound after one month to assess the size of the cyst.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
