Brief Answer:
repeat colposcopy

Detailed Answer:
Hello, it is suggestive of incomplete resection of the affected area or a fresh lesion.
I would suggest you to get a fresh colposcopy and assessment under green filter and after acetic acid application.
If colposcopy also reveals same lesion then opt for hysterectomy if you have completed your family.
In case you have other questions I will be happy to help.

Thank you, Dr. XXXXXXX

I had a repeat colposcopy on Friday and am awaiting results. At that time the doctor did a vinegar test and had to biopsy something. (I think the reason was some of the cells turned white??) Can you explain the possible cancer-cells turning white and what she most likely biopsied?

Much appreciation,
XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
see detailed description

Detailed Answer:
Hi, acetic acid or vinegar test is used to see abnormal cancer cells which turns white because acetic acid precipitates protein which is present in very levels in cancer cells (as they divide rapidly) unlike normal cells.
Biopsy of the affected area helps in diagnosis of the stage and extent of disease.

I have various research papers on cancer cervix so I can guide you on every aspect of management.
All the best.

Much appreciation! I will be in touch once I get the results.
Would the cells have turned white for any other reason OTHER than cancer?

Brief Answer:
infection can also give same picture

Detailed Answer:
Yes some viral infections also cause whitening of cervical cells after vinegar but as you are having previous history of CIN the doubt will be on that side only.
Moreover most common virus found in cervix is also HPV which is again carcinogenic so either way testing via biopsy is of paramount importance.
