Question: Hello dear Dr I would like to get some clarification on the matter I faced recently while passing compulsory medical fitness checkup for employment Visa in United Arab emirates. It looks like that I passed the blood test against any type of AIDSHIV or hepatitis but I failed chest x-ray as I got the call From medical center asking to undergo for another set of tests for tuberculosis. I visited medical centre where I gave another blood sample and sputum tests and asked the doctor over there about the reason I called for the second test and the answer was very short, they said I have scar on my lung... that was a scary news for me.
For the moment I am still waiting for test results and going crazy...
Nobody from my family never had any tuberculosis or cancer, I don't have any history of it.
I had my previous chest x-ray is done in 2012 in France and in 2014 in Australia for the same reason of getting the work permits and all was absolutely clear. Since that time I did not have any issues with my lungs and only thing happened to me that was quite long sickness period from beginning of December to the end of December 2016 when I was coughing and that was quite wet cough which has been healed itself and field conditions I was in did not allow me to visit doctors. While this I did not have fever.
Would it be possible that scar has appeared as a result of sickness I had four month ago? During a given period of time I passed two blood and stool tests. one in Feb, second in May, where all was within the range, including C reactive protein. The only issue has been found was Staphylococcus aureus in my throat and lack of lactobacteries in my colon.

Brief Answer:
It might be related to tb

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking in HCM

I have gone carefully through your concern and i can understand your actual situation.

According to the history since 2014 you have not checked any more the lungs because you didn't feel any problem.

In my opinion as you explain the symptoms i think that the wet cough that you have had for nearly one month and the long sickness might be related to the scar in your lungs.
CRP is not related to tuberculosis because it is elevated in bacterial infections and tb is not a bacterial infection.

The test results are very important in the diagnosis of tuberculosis and especially the sputum.
If the sputum test is positive than you should be treated for tuberculosis if not than you should be followed up for some time.

But don't worry so much.Tuberculosis is a diseases that may be fully cured and with no sequels nowadays.

Wait the results and when you have them you can attach me and i am here to discuss again.

Hi Doctor, thanks for answering. Can you please have a look on the file attached? Its not that I am resisting on your opinion that it might be related to TB, however, what I beleive is in case if it were TB giving me long cough -then I shall see at least any of those indicators out of scale. Secondly, if it has happened, I would feel symptoms worsening over the time which is not the case.

Brief Answer:
we are not yet sure if ot is tb

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

I saw the result attached .It is the hemogram and it is nearly normal.

Usually in older age and severely ill patients with tb we might see changes in hemogram values in contrast with young patients.

However we are not sure yet if you have tb .
We have to prove or exclude it.

We already know that one of the most usual agent that can cause scar in the lungs is tb.

Please i can understand your concern but wait the results.

Wishes
