Question: I have high blood pressure. I was taking Amlodipine/Benezapril 5/20mg for over a year. A couple of months ago I had swelling issues from the amlodipine. I was taken off that and benazepril was paired with Lasix. The Lasix leached out too much due to the fact I sweat a lot. He then changed me to Benezapril 20mg, Spironolactone (potassium sparing) 25mg. Both once a day. Now I know both are potassium sparing three weeks after taking the XXXXXXX I had a blood test and all including electrolytes were normal. How much should I worry about having too much potassium? I have no idea how much I would need to ingest to become a problem. As I said all testing came back normal (a1c, eletrolytes, liver, kidneys).

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query and understood your concerns.

You shouldn't worry about electrolytes and especially potassium as long as the analysis were normal. The potassium levels are normal due to excessive sweating which eleminate sodium, potasium and other electrolytes.

You should measures again blood electrolytes after 3 to 6 months.

Wish you health!
