Question: Hi Dr., Can you please interpret this MRI findings

The uterus is enlarged with dimensions of 12X7X9cm. Mildly lobulated uterine contour. The myometrium demonstrates heterogeneous signal from low-signal masses. At lease 12 subserosal, submucosal and intramural masses ranging in sizes 2 mm - 5cm. The largest is subserosal and obscures the endometrial cavity.
And can this findings also cause some movement in the stomach?

Brief Answer:
Multiple Uterine Fibroids

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your query.

The MRI report you mentioned above suggests presence of multiple fibroids in the uterus. Fibroids are benign smooth muscle tumors that are rarely cancerous (malignant). These are not serious but have to be removed surgically to prevent the symptoms and pressure effects of the tumor mass.

In case of multiple fibroids, removal of the uterus is a best option.

Yes, fibroids can cause pain in the lower abdomen, white discharge, irregular periods etc.

Do consult your Gynecologist for further management.

wish you good health.

Brief Answer:
Cant cause movement

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing back.

Heterogenous texture indicates that the tumors are made of tissue other than the endometrium. They are made of smooth muscle which is present in myometrium, this difference in the make gives us a heterogenous appearance.

No, fibroids do not cause movements in the stomach usually. The cause of the same could be something else like flatulence.
