Brief Answer:
What are the associated symptoms ?

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query, albeit small and specific.

I would like to know a few details for me to comment on your question and guide you :::
Was the nodule detect on MRI or was present before auto accident ?
Is there any pain or redness ?
12 mm nodule is just an incidental finding on MRI or any symptoms related to it?
Is it hard or soft ?
Is it XXXXXXX or fixed relatively ?

MRI would definitely comment upon such a finding giving a probable diagnosis.
Can you please post / attach the report with this query.

The nodule can be due to any of the following:
A lymph node,
Sebaceous cyst.
Hematoma related to the trauma of auto accident.
Any FNAC - fine needle aspiration cytology done ?

I would advise you the following:
Get the report of MRI.
FNAC of the swelling if it is suspected to be a lymph node.
Removal (excision)
By removing, two things are achieved, you get the disease out and secondly the histopathology report confirms what is it. The fear of cancer or so goes away.

If this is a hematoma or so, leave it alone. It shall heal on its own.
Get a clinical diagnosis , which is possible by visiting as a General Surgeon
/ ENT surgeon.

I hope this answer helps you to find the reason and get a course of proper treatment if needed; please feel free to ask for more if you need to and you may please rate this answer before closing the link.

axial #9 and 10 demonstrates a 12mm in diamenter nodule within the anterior triangle of the neck on the left side. this is not definitly included on the sagittal images questions artifacts from the jugular vein versus actual nodule I beleive the truth represents a nodule

Brief Answer:
Confirm with USG with Color Doppler...

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your feedback.

The nodule: can be due to any of the following:
A lymph node,
Sebaceous cyst.
Hematoma related to the trauma of auto accident.

Since your MRI says axial # 9 and 10 - shows 12 mm nodule- not included in the sagital images - means this can be just an artefact. ""Artefact'' means wrongly appearing...

So the best way is to go for simple color doppler with ultrasonography of the neck to determine whether this is just a jugular vein or an actual lymph node or a hematoma. This will give a definite answer and if there is nothing you can just forget about it.
IF there is some finding- further planning can be done.

So please insist for ultrasonography and color doppler to confirm whether there is something or not.

It is not common to find a single lymph node alone in the neck. It is usually present as multiple nodes in chain. These would have been picked up by the MRI.

So I personally feel get a confirmation by Ultrasonography and Color Doppler examination. Till then just relax and since you have no symptoms stop worrying.

Please let me know the report of ultrasonography with Color Doppler examination.
