What Does This MRI Of Right Knee Regarding Medial Meniscal Tear Indicate?

default
Posted on Mon, 23 Jun 2014
Question: I am a 52 y.o. female and had an MRI on my right knee to evaluate for a medial meniscal tear.
Impression: "Patchy subchondral bone marrow edema is seen within the mid to posterior aspect of the medial tibial plateau and a non displaced subchondral fracture cannot be excluded." Your clinical opinion is greatly appreciated.

Brief Answer:
Description below

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for your query.

The non displaced subchondral fracture is a minor degree of bone crack . The swelling and joint effusion that you have are likely to subside with adequate rest. You need to avoid weight bearing on the leg. Using a knee brace will be of help.
In addition to rest, ice and pain killers, you can keep the leg elevated on two pillows while resting.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.

Take care
