Brief Answer:
A plane of loose tissues which allows the ski to glide over

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query and history, albeit small and specific.
Read the history of Facial Nerve Graft for Bells Palsy, and scan report too.

I would to know the following:
When was the nerve graft done ?
Can you please post the details of the procedure as on your Discharge ticket ?
If possible please post the clear picture of the Face to see the extent of the edema.
Was there any history of the trauma / accident where face was involved in past ?

Well, to answer your query:
Subcutaneous means just bellow the skin. This is the layer composed of loose areolar tissues which allows the skin to glide over the underlying tissues like muscles, tendons and bones.
The accumulation of body fluid in this layer is called ''subcutaneous edema''.
The scan says- there are 3 foreign bodies of 3 mm size in this plane; there is edema along the right side of the face. No fluid collection means there is no collection of blood / pus in pockets or in a circumcised area.
The edema is diffuse collection within the loose areolar tissue in the subcutaneous plane.

I hope this answers your queries; please feel free to ask for more relevant questions and provide any related additional information for me to help you more.
