What Does The Following Ultrasound Report Indicate?

Posted on Mon, 5 Oct 2015
Question: Should I be worried about a 10mm cyst in the Right hepatic lobe of my liver? Also, colonic diverticulosis & a partially decompressed sigmoid colon. I supposedly have IBS and asked for this CT scan in March 2015. These results were never mentioned to me. Only that my intestines were fine. I've been ill for over 2 years and can not get a proper diagnosis. Had to have a fissurectomy, sphincterotomy & a hemorrhoidectomy in XXXXXXX of this year. The pain I had from these issues was unbearable and was resolved. But, now I feel the pain returning. I wake up at 3am every morning in pain. Food makes no difference.

Brief Answer:
Please give details and feedback.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted your history, medications and surgeries that you have undergone.

If the cyst is reported as a ''simple cyst in the liver'' on ultrasonography or CT scan, you should not be worried at all. If anything more is added to the diagnosis than this, then only there is need to worry.

Do you mean that the pain at the anus is returning back? Or something more than this?
Please give detail so that we can discuss further.
- How are the motions (BM)- consistency, frequency, smell, black (malena anytime)?
- Any associated symptoms of bloating, nausea, vomiting?
- Any other symptoms like fever, loss of appetite and weight or any symptoms that you would like to add whether related or unrelated to the present problems?
- Diabetes or thyroid problems?
- Any fissure in ano at the moment?

Waiting for your feedback.

Thank you for your quick response. Before the surgery it felt like I had razor blades on fire in my lower abdomen & vaginal area. GI Dr. & the Surgeon both said it was from the fissure. The pain and numbness have started again in my vaginal area and of course the stomach pain never goes away. Just had to take a hydrocodone for the first time in weeks. I have a combo of constipation/diarrhea. Stools are black but I think it's from the Iron I take. Rarely is there a smell. All my colonoscopies have been normal. I have no appetite and have lost 30+ pounds over the past 6 months. I have to force myself to eat something in the evening so I can take my meds. The fissure has not returned as of my last check-up 6 weeks ago. I'm usually too sick to keep my Dr. appointments. I have RA (no symptoms for quite awhile) and fibromyalgia, Peripheral Neuropathy from 2 back surgeries. Had Hypothyroidism but was taken off the meds because I was supposedly in the normal range. The one blood test they always take is on the high side of normal. Was having profuse body sweating & started taking something called Thyroid Support and after a month the sweating finally stopped!! I honestly think my thyroid is still not resolved. Very concerned about the decompressed colon. But, at least I won't worry about the cyst.

Brief Answer:
Stress and anxiety/ IBS ?

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your appreciation.
Sorry for the delay for surgeries were lined up and has some emergencies.

The feeling of the razor blades on fire in lower abdomen and vaginal area noted. I do not think this can be related to the fissure you had. The pain and numbness has started again in the vaginal area and the abdominal pain never goes away as per your history.
Stools may be black due to iron you take.
Colonoscopies are normal, no appetite, lost 30 pounds in 6 months, also have RA, fibromyalgia, peripheral neuropathy from 2 back surgeries.

Please post the reports of your thyroid function tests so that I can infer from them.
Just wanted to know the details about the decompressed colon.

I was just wondering whether the level of the stress and/or anxiety are too much in your case wither as a cause or due to other problems that you have detailed nicely.
If it is so, control of the stress and anxiety can help to a large extent.

Please feel free to give further feedback and post the reports of your thyroid function tests and give me details about the decompressed colon in spite of normal colonoscopies. IBS may be another reason.

Yes, much anxiety and stress. Husband died 3+ years ago & my Parents are both 93, 3,000 miles away & I'm too ill to travel. Worry daily that they'll die before I get to see them. Cry constantly. Things in my house are breaking and draining my savings. Have lost most of my friends & family because of my mystery illness. I can't find any of my current THS results, but had nodules on my thyroid, found in 1990. Was taking synthroid for over 20 years, nodules went away. Since my blood work was normal, they took me off the Synthroid. I'm confused because the results should've been normal due to the meds. Also I'm off the methotrexate due to having no RA symptoms, but still have high RA factor. It seems to me that I got this IBS after I stopped taking these 2 meds along with stopping a low dose Prempro. I have no other info on my colon. I only know what the CT report said. GI doctor has not helped me at all. What kind of Dr should I see for my issues? I'm always so sick that it's very hard to even keep my appointments. In a perfect world, my wish would be to go into the hospital for a day or 2 so I can have all the necessary tests. Not sure if Medicare & my United Healthcare allow this. Guess I would need to arrange it with my GP??? Sorry for being so long winded. Just desperate for help my doctors have yet to provide. Thank you for your help.

Brief Answer:
More of a IBS, I can understand the situation you are going through.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your detailed feedback.
Read and re-read it to understand the causes and I feel that the stress and anxiety are the major factors. And you have the reasons for it.
If the reports of thyroid, colonoscopy and other tests are normal, this is a very good thing for you. It is really lucky to have such reports and you will be better off with the least possible medicines.
No RA symptoms ins spite of high titres- this again is a good thing.

IBS is related to the stress and anxiety and not related to any other medicines, please do not connect it to anything else.

I would advise you to first have a detailed discussions with your GP, get the things sorted out nicely, try to be on the least possible medicines, you may not need so many. Please see that healthier the life better would be the cope-up capacity. I hope you are getting my point.

You can also try the alternative methods like meditation, getting involved into old-time hobbies, anything constructive and this will help you to recover still faster and better.

Once you are on the path of recovery, I would also advise you to see the parents as I can feel your urgency to meet them.

I can really understand the way you are going through the situation, but it is the way the life goes on, many times everyone in life really feels helpless but I am sure everyone comes out of it too as you too will be.
