Question: Hello Doctor. could you please let me know that how conclusive is an Hiv antibodies test taken 7 months and 10 days after exposure.. i had protected sex with a CSW in Aug, 2014....i first took the Hiv 1 and 2 test(ELISA) method 5 months after exposure and it came back as Non Reactive. I then took the HIV 1/2. and P24 combo test at 6 months after exposure and it came back ad Non Reactive with Index value 0.09.... i again took the same test i. e HIv 1/2 and P24 combo test after 7 months and 10 days after exposure and it again came back as Non Reactive with Index Value 0.07....could you please let me know if the test results are conclusive and should i consider myself safe from that exposure and whether i need to take any more tests or not.... i have not been involved in any activity post that incident... also what is the maximum duration in which you get conclusive result for these tests.. kindly advice as i am still very tensed due to that incident... thanks

Brief Answer:
Results are conclusive. You are free from HIV 1 and 2.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.
Your test results are very much conclusive beyond any doubt. You are free from both HIV 1 and 2.
Tests done by the end of 12 weeks after the high risk activity itself is conclusive You had repeated up to 7 months. Not necessary to repeat any more test for HIV unless you have further risky exposure.
