What Does Swelling On The Veins Indicate?

default
Posted on Wed, 29 Apr 2015
Question: Hi doctor, sometimes in my right forearm, my vein will surface, it usually goes away after a day or two and only hurts if I touch it, but today is different and my whole right arm, from the hand to the shoulder is hurting whenever I touch it. I did some research and saw that it could be superficial thrombophlebitis, but I am now wondering, with my new symptoms, if it may be something more serious.

Dear XXXXXXX

Hi! :) It's great to meet you here on healthcaremagic.

Thanks for immediately posting this question. After all your health is the first priority.

I can really understand your very real fears about this event erupting into something more serious. You are right.

I would say with confidence that rest assured, you are safe, sound and secure. 100%.

Why?

1. This event has recurrently occurred in the past.
2. There was no clot formation (a lump of solid blood). This is called as a "thrombus".
3. That there were no incidents more serious than swelling, pain and the like.
4. That this occurred in your right forearm and not your legs. There is a difference.

So what?

1. Kindly keep calm. I know it can be hard, anyway, try to.
2. Since I cannot give you a prescription right now, over international boundaries, I would politely ask you to see your favoutite doc, and he or she will:
1. Give you tenoxicam tablets.
2. Local coumadin application on the affected regions. (USE WITH CARE).

Wishing you all the best,
Take care,
Dr. Neel Kudchadkar.
