Question: I did ritalin injectoin about half hour ago, the vein was missd or blown.now there is a swollen area over the injectoin site but it is not red, just a small swollen that spread wide over the area. I did apply dermacombin (gramicidine, neomycin, nystatin and triamcinolone combination ) ointment on the swollen area and also I took Arcoxia 90 mg p.o. I wish to ask you if it's good enough tretmant or should I need to go see a doctor for p.o antibiotic tretmant. Waiting for your answer, many thanks.

Brief Answer:
No antibiotic required

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

Antibiotic is required only when the swelling has formed into an abscess however for now here is how you should go about it

1. Apply cold packs to the swollen area
2. Tab enractin twice daily will help reduce the swelling .
3. Do not meddle with the swelling
4. if you develop fever then you should start antibiotics , I usually start tab amox with clavulunate thrice daily

I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me

regards
