What Does Small Pimple At The Hairline On Back Of Neck Indicate?

Question: I had a small pimple at the hairline at the back of my neck that got scratched with my hairbrush. While that is healing the area just below has grown tender and right below that there's a small lump. Have been putting on hot compresses.
