What Does Pinkish Urine Indicate?

default
Posted on Fri, 22 May 2015
Question: My urine has turned pink today. I have no other symptoms. I have been taking B12 Supplements for the past 5 days.....2500mg. I have some back pain above my right hip but I always do. It is no worse than usual and I have been gardening and raking all week. I am 69 and female. Can B12 cause pink urine? I have not been eating beets or rhubarb or blackberries. I had a clear medical report in October including urinalysis. Bowel movements are normal.I ate barbecue sauce last night.I have never had pink urine before.

Brief Answer:
B12 may not cause pink color of urine

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,
Thanks for using HCM.
Vitamin B12 supplements though can change the urine color usually do not cause a pink color.
There are many different causes for pink urine some of which are harmless and some serious causes.
I would advise you to get an urinalysis done to to rule out any blood in urine causing the urine to change its color.

Let me know if you have any more questions.
