What Does My Ultrasound Scan Test Result Indicate?
Question: Hi, I had my level 2 ultrasound and the growth of fetus is approximately running 7 days late. My Due date according to LMP is 30th Dec, while according to ultrasound it is 5th XXXXXXX Is it normal? Also, the report says mild pyelectasis in both kidneys with 4mm and 5mm. What should I do about it?

1 week delay is acceptable.
Do not worry, ultrasound just gives estimate and upto 2 weeks is normal.
pyelectasis is a finding seen in 2-3% of scans and a repeat scan after 4 weeks is advised.
Most babies with pyelectasis less than 7 mm have no problems.
In a majority no pyelectasis is seen after delivery.
