Brief Answer:
There are small calcifications in uterus cavity which are likely harmless

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
The ultrasound report is explained as follows

1. It is a Trans abdominal and Trans vaginal ultrasound scan report of the pelvis.

2. The uterus measures 7.8 x 3.2 x 4.6 cm and this is within normal range. Anteverted refers to the normal position of uterus.

3. The central portion of the uterus is called the endometrial thickening and 3 mm is normal.

4. There is description of 6 small discrete areas in the endometrial layer the largest measuring about 1.4 mm. This is most likely calcification and unlikely to be a serious concern. There are no polyps in the endometrial cavity of uterus.

5. There are no fibroids in uterus.

6. The ovaries are normal in size and a dominant follicle measuring 17 mm is present in left ovary.

In conclusion, the only positive finding in the ultrasound scan is few calcifications in the endometrium. Medical research has shown these to be an incidental finding associated mostly with benign conditions. The etiologic factors for echogenic foci may be numerous. They can remain the same or might disappear with time and are harmless. It does not mean that you have a disease. However it has been regularly seen in women with hormone use, IUD use, interventions such as D&Cs, cesarean deliveries, therapeutic or spontaneous abortions, and infections.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.

Brief Answer:
Endometrial calcification not contributing to bleeding

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

1. Having two c sections might be one of the causes for these calcifications.

2. This finding of small calcifications does not directly contribute to bleeding during intercourse in any way.

3. Bleeding during sex (post coital bleeding) due to possible traumatic intercourse is seen in many young women and this if persistent then needs confirmation with clinical examination.

4. Infections are also one of the commonest causes of post coital bleeding. This includes infection of cervix also known as cervicitis. A pap smear might be done to study the pattern of cells in the cervix.

5. Hormonal imbalances can also cause post coital bleeding.

6. Presence of fragile glandular tissue in cervix called cervical ectopi might also cause post coital bleeding. This is a benign condition.

7. Leg cramps are a non specific symptom.

Most of the conditions causing bleeding after intercourse at 24 years might be harmless and not a serious concern. Please have a discussion based on clinical examination and tests with your doctor on the above possibilities and confirm the diagnosis.

Hope your query is answered.
