What Does My Ultrasound Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Mon, 3 Nov 2014
Question: what does it mean when an ultrasound report says there is no evidence of any intra or extrauterine gestation but appearances may represent an early pregnancy or ectopic pregnancy? Blood test came back negative. Would it be right to believe the ultrasound over the blood test?

Brief Answer:
Needs further evaluation!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about these ultrasound findings and all the disturbing thoughts this must have caused you.

To ultrasound report is not convincing. It talks of no evidence of intrauterine or ectopic pregnancy and at the same time concludes on possible early pregnancy or ectopic pregnancy. This is not trustworthy and I will suggest that you get this ultrasound repeated. The same pieces of information he has discarded cannot be the same reasons for concluding about early pregnancy or ectopic pregnancy. Early pregnancy and extra uterine gestation are so distinct on ultrasound that a good radiologist cannot be confused about.

With blood tests being negative, this further casts enormous doubts on the results of this ultrasound. It would be extremely difficult and impossible to talk of pregnancy when all laboratory tests do not suggest anything in this light.

In all, get the ultrasound repeated. Whoever did the test and the reporting are not so trustworthy.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for sing our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
