What Does My Sputum Test Report Indicate?
Question: Routine sputum test done. Shows pus cells 10-25
Epithelial cells: >25/low power field
Gram stain: Plenty gram positive cocci in pairs, chains & clusters, plenty gram negative bacilli, few gram positive bacilli suggestive of Diphtheroids seen.

Hi,
The sputum test suggest that there is significant bacteria present inside the sputum. The bacteria could be Diphtherioid like in appearance. It is mixed with gram positive and gram negative nature of bacteria.
This is generally present in air way infection or lung parenchymal infection. So there is a need to take mixed antibiotic prescription for a week if you have other symptoms depending on your doctor's choice.
