What Does My Sons Blood Test Report Suggest?

Question: Hello Doctor,

My son (7 days old) was admitted for jaundice treatment and below is his blood test report. Can you please help me to understand it

Erythrocytes: Are normocytic normochromic with mild anisopoikilocytosis .

Leucocytes: Relative lymphocytosis is seen .

Thrombocytes: Are normal in number.

Haemoparasites: Not found.

IMPRESSION: Relative Lymphocytosis .

RETICULOCYTE COUNT (Manual) : 1.3 %

G-6PD 15.0

FT4 1.45

TSH 2.18

Thanks for writing to us
Jaundice in 7 day old is usually exaggerated physiological jaundice.
The report you attached has normal reticulocyte count and normal g6pd.
In hemolysis which can sometimes cause jaundice, rbc count will be less, reticulocyte count will be more. ( your baby is negative for hemolysis)
Reactive lymphocytosis which is increase in white cell type is normally seen in babies, nothing to worry.

Anything has to be taken regarding the thyroid value? since T4 is little low than the normal value
