What Does My Lab Test Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Fri, 27 May 2016
Question: I have a question about a HSV (IGG) test I received. I have done some research online and I understand the false positives. My HSV 1 is 1.01 which falls right at the false positive range and is probably a negative test result. My HSV2 is 1.57 which is technically a positive, but I've seen a lot of information that below 3 is a possible false positive. I have been deployed for a year and have not had sex in more than 14 months. I was administered the varicella vaccination during my deployment vaccinations and I'm wondering if that could have an affect on the test results. Thank you.

Please, upload this report for interpretation and more insights.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about these inconclusive results that you have reported and all the inconveniences this must have caused you. I have reviewed the information and would like to review the results independently and offer a second opinion. This way, I can provide a personalized and helpful response to you. I will address all other concerns when I review the report as the units and test specifications are vital unmaking the right interpretations.

I have uploaded the results. Can a Varicella vaccination affect my results?

Thank you for your help.

Brief Answer:
No!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Varicella vaccination really has nothing to do with this test result. I understand you are obviously concerned about this HSV2 infection. The IGG antibodies suggest that this is a longstanding infection. With no IGM reported, there are certainly no recent outbreaks and you are most likely not contagious.

I will say, keep calm and do not be too worried about this. I wish you well.
