What Does My Kidney Function Test Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Mon, 7 Aug 2017
Question: my mom, 80 years old, with history of heart failure, high bp, stroke and diabetes, and declining kidney function just had blood taken with the results of eGFR 7.29, BUN 58, CREATININ 6.6. She is extremely week and has frequent upset stomachs. What would be the recommended treatment at this point? What is prognosis?actually, I mis-read the results. Her eGFR is 6.02before the blood work was done they started her on PT to build up her endurance. I'm thinking of cancelling that because I don't think PT will help. Does that sound correct?

Brief Answer:
kidney failure

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your question on HCM

I do understand your concern

“As” per your clinical history is concerned her problem is due to kidney failure so she needs treatment at hospital. Treatment should be followed like this :-

1)Treatment should be based on under laying pathology she has right now and medications will be given to control it like high blood pressure.

2)Treatment to balance the amount of fluids in the blood

3)Medication to control blood potassium like [calcium, glucose or sodium polystyrene sulfonate]

4)Dialysis to remove toxins from her blood.

So meet your urologist and start treatment as soon as possible and prognosis is good.

Regarding [PT] I may say it has no role to play so not required at all.

Hope that helps and please let me know if you have any doubt

Thanks and wish you a good health
