What Does My Holter Monitor Test Result Indicate?

Question: Doctor please help. I had cardiac work ups and was diagnosed with having pvcs and pacs which were benign. My echo was normal and so was my stress test. The first holter last year showed 925 PACS over 48 hours 3 couplets and 4 bigamy cycles. No runs. 1 ventricular beat.

2 months ago I had another holter done and it showed 150 PACS and 15 PVCS all single and unifocal. Again doctor said benign. The frequency had gone down quite a bit over the last few months however last night before bed they started up again and lasted 5 hours. I'm pretty sure I had hundreds of them. I don't know what to do. They are scaring me and I need some reassurance from a professional

Brief Answer:
I reassure you nothing dangerous is occurring.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again! I want to reassure you whenever you need, that nothing dangerous and life - threatening is going to happen. You don't need to go through such an experience that way. Unpleasant perception may easier arise by a small amount of ectopic beats than an important persistent arrhythmia. In order to get more comfortable and relieved, just ask for a physical exam and ECG your doctor (even GP). That would add also an objective judgement to all online cardiologists you consult.
Hope to have been helpful!

Thanks doctor. First let me say that my cardiologist has never taken the time to explain this all to me. He simply told me I was fine and nothing to worry about. That is easier said than done. In your response did you mean that benign arythmia can cause worse symptoms than a dangerous one? Also is it normal to have a small amount of etopic beats and on other days have much more?

Brief Answer:
Daily regimen and psychological support is needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hi! That's right, on my experience, sensations heralded by a small amount of insignificant ectopic beats sometimes get harder to manage, as they occur frequently in a stable clinical status, and the patient is more exigent in protecting his tranquility.
Dealing with your ectopic beats, means taking into account your perturbed and stressful general situation; that seems a little far from normality.
What I strongly support is the opinion of a normal cardiac status, but imposed by a continuing flux of stressful stimuli. What I suggest is a frequently periodic psychological support and an extensive daily activity to surpass this gap.
Greetings!

Thanks doctor. I am going to start playing hockey again with my friends to relieve stress. One last thing before I close the discussion. Is it true pacs are less dangerous than pvcs? The majority of M8ne are PACS

Brief Answer:
Sports is good and PACs are benign.

Detailed Answer:
Hi! It's good for you to start thinking positively, and I am glad to hear that. Playing sports is a helpful therapy for body and mind. You are going to see the results soon.
Your statement about PACs is true. PACs are the dominant ectopic beats in humans, and the most benign. Seems that you have gathered a lot of information about what concerns you.
Wish you good health! Dr. Iliri
