Hello!

Welcome on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would like to explain that echocardiography is an excellent test for studying cardiac structure and function.

It may detect structural changes from long-standing and uncontrolled hypertension, such as left ventricular hypertrophy, possible left atrial dilation, etc.

But it shows nothing in acute BP changes, such as in your case (example during weight lifting).

The fact you have a fine echo result (no structural changes ) confirms that you are not suffering from any important, long-standing and uncontrolled hypertension.

So relax and don't worry about!

Having higher BP values during strenuous exercise (weight lifting) is a normal body reaction.

But if you have persistent high BP values even after physical activity, then further medical investigation is necessary.

First, I recommend you to closely monitor your BP values for a couple of days (several times daily).

If abnormal values are found then some additional tests would be helpful.

But if those values are within acceptable ranges you don't have to worry any more about this issue, at least actually.

Just follow a healthy life (physically active life, no smoking, no heavy alcoholic drinks, no fatty and spicy fòod, etc).

Hope to have been helpful to you!

In case of further uncertainties, do not hesitate to ask me!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
