Brief Answer: Happy it is gradually reducing towards normal! Detailed Answer: Hi and thanks for following up with me. I can see it has again dropped and making progress in the right direction towards a normal value. With this trend, I am more optimistic we would get out of this sooner than later. I hope you also find the trend more reassuring. I wish you well. Thanks for your continued communication and feel free to ask for more information and clarification. Thanks. Dr. Ivo, MD.

thank you for following up with me. I will take another CBC in a few days to see if I need another Nplate shot. This is my usual pattern it goes up then after a couple weeks begins a steady drop. I took the urine test because I was having systoms of a UTI but my uro DR said it was just a afffect from the radiation that comes and goes. The Radiation also caused my internal Hemerriod to bleed when my platelets drop to low. Drs say I have diverticuolus and possible Radiation procticis. The bleeding is minor and when my Platelets stay stable they will give me a colonostopy

Brief Answer: I pray the platelets stay stable! Detailed Answer: I pray yourplatelets stay stable so that you can get the colonoscopy done. This must be a nightmare to live entirely on shots to get your platelets in good shape. Why don't your doctors give you platelet concentrates ad do the colonoscopy if they think it is very important at this time. Relying on weekly shots of Nplate is just a game of chance with no certainty while the platelet concentrates would do all. Should you receive platelet concentrates and get the colonoscopy done, it may spare you these weekly shots. Platelets can be as low as 50.000 without bleeding and the goal in you should be to prevent bleeding and not maintain it in the normal range. I hope this helps. I wish you well. Have a great day and best of health. Feel free to always contact me and with the new CBC! Dr. Ivo, MD.

Brief Answer: Thanks for this update. Detailed Answer: I am so sorry to hear about this sharp drop in platelets. It must be a very difficult thing to deal with. I hope the continued injections really help if the cause of this rapid and massive destruction cannot be masterminded and treated. The WBC have continued to show significant improvement in numbers. I hope you are comforted at least by this. I wish you well. Thank you so much for this continued discussion. Dr. Ivo, MD.

Hello Dr. Ditah! Quick question for you.not related to prior discussion. I have internal hemorrhoid that bleeds when platelets and what I was told radiation proctisis. They gave me hydrcortisone Acetate suppositpries 25 mg I have been taking these for over a year off and on. Usually once a day or at time twice when I have bleeding. now I hear that they actually are not good to take for a long period of time. Because they can cause harm. It this true and how can I correct any harnm they have caused

Answered by Dr. Ivo Ditah (15 hours later)
Brief Answer: Yes they can cause harm but justified to take them Detailed Answer: Hi and thank you so much for this query. All drugs in one way or the other causes a side effect. The only reason why you would get on drugs is not because they are entirely safe but because the benefits outweigh the risk. In this case, it is better not to bleed from these hemorrhoids than to deal with the possible side effects of steroids. Also, because you take it rectally, small dose and not through the mouth, the inconveniences would be very minimal. In all, it is better to continue than not. Any harm caused would be noticed through signs and symptoms and not anticipated. I hope this helps. Thanks and feel free to ask for more clarifications I need be. Dr. Ivo, MD.
