What Does My Blood Test Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Thu, 28 Jan 2016
Question: Yes, I had a blood test and found these results and dont quite understand them:
bun 11mg
bilirubin tdt 1.4mg
alt 115mg
glucose 104mg
anion gap 13 tu/l
alt 69 tu/l
They said I had an enlarge liver and it was pushing on my gall bladder. They ask me to quit drinking any alcohol at all for 3 months. Will this relieve and cure the liver or will it never be cured. Should I take a liver cleanse? Will I be able to have a couple glasses of wine in the evenings or am I completely finished with drinking. Guess I over did it after selling my home and not having a place of my own till next year. Was drinking 5-6 drinks per day 7 days a week, sometimes 8-9. Thanks xxxxx

Brief Answer:
Alcoholic hepatitis, stay sober and you will improve

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking cal

I read your question and i understand your concern. Your rest of the blood work up is normal except for slightly raised ALT and liver span which is called alcoholic hepatitis. Too much drinking was the reason it happened in first place. Now that you have quit alcohol , your body and liver will metabolise it on its own and you will recover slowly and gradually but staying sober would be necessary.

In case of noncompliance , it may complicate and may lead to alcoholic pancreatitis and cholecystitis ( gall bladder infections). I hope you understand the importance of quitting alcohol and staying sober.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and don't forget to close the discussion please.
