Question: Hi Pls advise re the Widal report as below, for values for 1:20, 1:40, 1:80, 1:160, 1:320 respectively:
Salmonella Typhi `O' + + + + -
Salmonella Typhi `H' + + + + +
Salmonella ParaTyphi `A' + + + - -
Salmonella ParaTyphi `B' + + + - -

Suggestive of Typhoid fever.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome To HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I understand your concern.. If these reports are obtained after 5 days of fever then these are suggestive of typhoid fever.
However you should know that Widal test is a non specific test and can come positive after successful treatment of typhoid fever.
In case there are no symptoms then this test has no significance.
If a positive test is associated with fever then yes this could be typhoid fever and required treatment for the same.
