Question: Hi, I am 36 weeks pregnant and USG report says: # Placenta is fundo-posterior in position with lower pole 6.0 cm away from internal o.s. Maturity is Grade 2. No sub chronic or retro placental haemorrhage seen. # Liquor is normal with cephalic presentation. # Lower femoral epiphysis is small # a loop of umbilical cord is seen in the vicinity of fetal neck Will I be able to deliver normally? I have a 5 year old daughter and she was delivered normally. I am really willing for a normal delivery this time also. Please help.

Brief Answer: CHANCE OF NORMAL DELIVERY IS GOOD ENOUGH. Detailed Answer: Hello XXXXXXX Thanks for uploading ultrasound scan report. 1) Your last ultrasound scan report is almost NORMAL and baby weight is quite good. Single loop of umbilical cord around fetal neck is seen in few percentage during 2nd or 3rd trimester. It usually DOESN'T cause any complication during delivery of the baby. However, special care is to be taken by healthcare staff or birth attendant to avoid asphyxia or respiratory distress during delivery. Kindly, consult with your obstetrician for overall check up to assess fetal well being. Blood pressure should be checked properly along with Blood Sugar and Urine albumin if these are not done recently. 2) You have GOOD chance of NORMAL DELIVERY in this pregnancy and past H/O Normal Delivery is also a determinant factor. However, proper pelvic assessment is required at the time of delivery according to progression of labor event. It will help to determine whether you will deliver NORMALLY or need C-Section. Hope, it helps for your information. Kindly, close the discussion if you don't have any other query. Wish your good health and successful motherhood.
