Question: My daughter 47 just had a MRI for rt hip pain. Impression: Heterogeneous bone marrow signal of the visuallizwd osseous structers which can be seen in marrow replacements disorders, including anemia, clinical correlation is recommended. No evidence of rte hip joint abnormalities. What do you think?

Heterogeneous bone marrow signal is not a very specific finding and it may be seen in many conditions.
This appearance is due to replacement of normal constituents of bone marrow.It may be due to replacement by fibrous tissue,excess proliferation of one type of cells.
It may be seen in anemia,myeloproliferative disorder etc.

Your daughter may need clinical correlation and routine investigation. Her doctor who knows about her medical history will be able to direct her towards the next steps of investigation. A bone marrow biopsy may be advised in selective cases after evaluation.
