What Does My MRI Scan Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Tue, 21 Feb 2017
Question: MRI taken four months ago shows moderate/severe OA, Particularly in left hip. Been having physio without benefit, OTC pain relief doesnt help. Having great difficulty with stairs, getting into car, putting on socks, difficulty shopping and standing in queues. The last few days have been particularly troublesome/tearful because i cant get pain relief whether walking, standing, sitting. My GP realises i will need hip replacement, but all non-invasive methods have to be tried first. They arent working. I can now only try stronger painkillers from my GP, but they wont cure the condition....it will still exist. Thoughts please? Am i ready for surgery?

Brief Answer:
Yes , I think you need surgery

Detailed Answer:
Dear Madam,

Thank you for posting your query on HCM.

Well looking into your problem I would like to tell you that if there are advanced changes in hip pertaining to osteoarthritis which is limiting your activities of daily life then best option would be hip replacement . Pain killers wont cure but give u relief from pain which is also required urgently so you need to take them . You should discuss regarding this with your treating doctor .

Take care.

Dr. Shruti
