Posted on Sat, 20 Aug 2016
Question: My MRI says The area of abnormal increased T2 of flair signal are identified. The diffusion weigted images are normal in appearance. No enhancing masses are identified Normal expected T2 flow voids are present.
What does this mean
I also had a periode of time, about 6-12 months when all of my lymph nodes in my body were swollen. My mom rushed me to the doctors, but they said that I was just fighting off whatever infection I had. However I have one lymph node that has not went back to normal. It is in my groin area and it is still swollen 3+ years know and has a hard section in it. I just had an ultrasound on it and my mom was with me and when they did the ultrasound the did a side by side comparison of my left groin lymnoid (normal one) and my right groin lympnoid they looked completly different. My swollen one was bigger and had a solid black round ball inside of it. The normal lypnoid was smaller and had not blackness inside. But, when we got the report back it stated that everything was normal. I have recieved such poor care from the health community were I live I do not believe that what we saw on the screen was normal.

Brief Answer:
Mri not very abnormal

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
The MRI changes may be normally found in many patients.
You can upload images in pdf format.
Some locations of T2 hyperintensity may be suggestive of multiple sclerosis too.
Nothing seems to be serious.
The problem with infections and lymph node may be due to decreased immunity.
Any history of iv drug or alcohol abuse?
The ultrasound report has measurement values of abnormal lymph nodes.
Don't worry about ultrasound machine screen as it depends upon direction of probe.
Hope you found the answer helpful.

I have been tested and I do have a decreased immunity and tested for Lupus and had one test come back positive and then they put me on several different atibiotics, steroids and retested me and I tested negative for Lupus, but positive for an autoimmune disease SLE19. I do not drink alcohol or do any type of drugs. This all started when I went swimmin in a man made resevor approximatly 4 years ago. I had a prostate infection for approximatly 2 years and proctitis, and then my bladder was infected then my urithia. The doctors were certain I had a parisit and started to treat me for that, but about 3 months into that I started peeing coffee colored urin. My current symptoms are sever fatigue, swollen lymph nodes, abdominal pain mausea diarrhea, passing mucus in feces, feeling of being sick all over, chest pan, fever or chills, mouth sores, headaches, numbness in left side of body, nubness in hands, low back pain. I look like I am green and yellow in my face and have dark circles under my eyes. I do not have access to my images from my MRI. My doctor does believe that I do have MS. But, I am very worried, I lost a scholarship when I graduated High School because I was so sick. My mom had to make arrangement with the Principle of my High School to let me do homework at home so that I could graduate with my class and High School and not an alternative High School. I want to go to college and be productive. My mom is very sick and recoverying from Brain Cancer and my dad is so worried about lossing her and then I am so sick I dont know what to do?

Brief Answer:
Get investigated under an immunologist

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
You need to get evaluated under an immunologist or neurologist as multiple systems involvement may occur in autoimmune disorders like SLE.
Mri changes and symptoms may be present in lupus.
Possibility of multiple sclerosis is less likely if you have involvement outside brain too.
Ana and dsdna testing is required.
Hope you found the answer helpful.

Brief Answer:
Take treatment regularly under immunologist

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
You are having positive features for SLE involving multiple systems.
Positive scl 70 may be present in SLE too.
Some patients are having mixed connective tissue disorder with features of two or more immune disorders.
You should continue treatment under an immunologist and seriously take medications as advised.
The damage of this disease is widespread and if not treated properly may lead to renal disease, pulmonary disease, nervous system disorder.
The better outcomes are associated with early and regular treatment.
