What Does My Beta HCG Test Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Tue, 27 Oct 2015
Question: My last period was 26th August 2015. On 28th Sept I got a beta HCG test done and my HCG count was 88. As my last pregnancy in May had resulted in a miscarriage my doctor prescribed me to take susten 300 twice a day for 6 months and cromin 5000 injections twice a week for at least 4 injections.

Now I should be 6 weeks along and I don't have any symptoms except sight stomach cramps every now and then and tender breasts. I got another beta HCG done on 3rd October and the HCG count was 1237.

I am very anxious and worried as I don't have any other symptoms, am I really pregnant or all this is because of the medicine and injections.
Do you think I am pregnant?

Brief Answer:
Please get a sonogram done.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.

It is not necessary to have all the documented symptoms of early pregnancy; you may experience only some. The fact that your serum beta-hCG titres are going up is a good sign of the progress of the pregnancy, but, the injections of hCG can also create a false positive result.

You can now get a trans-vaginal sonogram to locate the gestation sac, know the age of the pregnancy and also the viability. This is a fool proof evidence and if everything is fine, you can continue with the prescribed medication.

Please take as much rest as possible and avoid strenuous activity including sexual intercourse.

Hope your query has been clarified. Please feel free to contact for further information. I will be happy to help.

regards,
Shanti.V.
