What Does High ALT Level Indicate?
Question: My labs results ast 28 (0-37), alt 54 (0-40) ggt 135 (8-78) hepatitis panel negative, m2 antibody negative,actin antibody negative, globulin 1.93. Albumin 4.6. All other values normal . A uti caused by m morgani. Finish tx today with 5 days of ceftriaxone. No alcohol abuse. Taking lexapro for more than 2 years, ambien an lorazepam prn. I have been taking fioricet with regularity almost daily 2 tablets for months. Iam a 45 year old female. I waiting for the ultrasound result. Can these result are because of the medications. I stopped taking them 2 weeks ago. No jaundice, no dark color urine no ictericia, a mild pruritus ocassionally and inthe past few days a mild ocassionally stomach pain that irradiates to the back. Please tell me something about it.

It may be due to hepatitis or drug or alcohol or diet. Your hepatitis panel is negative and no alcohol as you said. So chances of drug induced increase is more common.
Your ggt is also high suggest some billiary tract obstruction or drug induced. Some pruritus is there but no icterus or dark urine so its very difficult to say. However chances of billiary tract obstruction are less.
Just wait for your ultrasound abdomen report. If it is normal then mostly drug induced increased can be considered. If it suggest any obstruction then take treatment accordingly.

If my ultrasound is negative, can the levels come back to normal. I am not using any medications .
