Brief Answer:
moderate enlargement

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to HealthcareMagic.

Usually prostatomegaly is the term used for benign enlargement which is called BPH. I assume you are also having BPH(benign prostatic hypertrophy).

It is a common condition occuring as age advance due to hormonal influence. In your case there is moderate enlargement. As it enlarge it cause urinary symptoms because it surrounds urethra.

Many people symptoms subside with medications. If they won't subside then surgery may be considered. In surgery the excess gland pressing over urethra is removed.

Once medication are started after 1 week to 10 days symptoms should start to reduce.

This I have told in general. If you have any specific query regarding it you may ask I would love to help.

Radiology report has stated that - My Prostate gland is enlarged in size. Prostate measures 41 x 49 x 53 mm3 and wieght is 56 gm. Further it has stated thatUrinary bladder is well distended and shows smooth contours. No calculus/mass lesion seen. PVRU is approx 17 ml.

No free fluid or adenopathy seen. I shall be very grateful if you could explain in brief.

Brief Answer:
Moderate enlargement

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

According to your report your prostate size and weight is moderately enlarged not severe.

Also urinary bladder is functioning normal and there are no disease in it.

PVRU is 17 ml means it is a good sign. More then 50 ml is taken problematic. Also with so less PVRU chances are more that for you only medication may be enough to reduce prostate size.

Though prostate is moderately enlarged it is not pressing too much on urethra. PvRU means urine left in bladder after voiding. This should be less then 50 ml.

Hope I have answered your query. If any further queries are there I would love to help.

Regards,
Dr.Deepika Patil
