What Does "deconditioning With Metabolic Syndrome" Mean?

default
Posted on Fri, 25 Apr 2014
Question: Oh, I have hypothyroid and I am very vigilent about getting blood work done and taking my medication early in the morning. My question: the doctor suggested "deconditioning with metabolic syndrome" as a possible cause to my sluggishness, feeling overwhelmed at times and irritable. I know I have not been active, i.e. walking, swimming but I move around a lot and don't sit idle. What is deconditioning with metabolic syndrome and how is that carried out?

Brief Answer: changes caused by metabolic syndrome Detailed Answer: Hi and thank you so much for this query. I am so sorry to hear about your symptoms. They seem to be more suggestive of hypothyroidism but this would be less likely if the numbers show that this condition is well controlled. Deconditioning with metabolic syndrome refers to all the changes/modifications that the body has undergone or adopted caused by metabolic syndrome. Some of them include muscle stiffness, joint and back ache, joint pains, etc which result in you cutting back significantly on your degree of physical activities. It is not rather a procedure that need to be carried out but the loss of adaptation caused by this disease condition. I hope this addresses your query fully. I wish you well and feel free to ask for more information and clarification if need be. Thanks for patronizing our services. Dr. Ivo, MD.
