Brief Answer:
abnormal movement of the vocal cords that can cause SOB

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Contrary vocal cord movement is another term used for vocal cord dysfunction or paradoxical vocal cord movement disorder.

It basically refers to abnormal closure of the vocal cords when taking a deep breath or/and in expiration which can lead to difficulty breathing. Some persons may also experience coughing, tightness of the throat, changes in the voice.

It can sometimes be caused by excess activity, intense emotion or occur on its own.
