What Does Cervical Polyp Along With Missed Period Indicate?

default
Posted on Sat, 25 Oct 2014
Question: I am 52years old. Haven't had my period in a year. Just had my Pap smear done, came back abnormal cells. Dr. Says nothing atypical. That pap was the same a year ago. Dr. Chose wait and see approach. Just had a colposcopy. Found a polyp outside of cervix. Dr. Saw some inflamation as well. Had polyp removed and biopsies. Waiting results. Dr. Thinks inflamation is from HPV. She doesn't think polyp is cancerous. That its more mild dysphasia. I'm still worried. Won't know results for a couple of days. Be reading about cervical dysplasia, is it cancerous?

- Mild cervical dysplasia is usually non cancerous and do not need any treatment at your age.
-Only close observation and repeat pap test is required in 3-6 months to determine whether it is changing from mild cervical dysplasia to moderate and severe dysplasia or not which may cause cervical cancer.
