What Does An Increase In Vaginal Discharge While Recovering From Bacterial Vaginosis Indicate?

default
Posted on Fri, 30 Sep 2016
Question: To whom it may concern,

I've been experiencing increased vaginal discharge that is white in color and non-odorous. I was treated for bacterial vaginosis a few weeks ago and thought that the discharge would clear up with the infection, however, this is not the case. I'm also experiencing a slight tingling/very mild burning sensation (a sensation similar to that of peppermint), mild cramping similar to pre-menstrual cramps, and lower back pain. I've noticed the discharge increases in amount when I sweat/exercise.

Follow up: I submitted this question about 6 days ago and was told I had a yeast infection. I promptly met with a doctor and was told that no fungus or indicators of a yeast infection were present.

At this point, I am seeking a possible cause for all of this as the doctor I visited didn't seem particularly concerned (although I am), and the symptoms listed above are atypical for me (my primary concern at this point is the discharge as I am having to wear pantiliners to avoid walking around in moist underwear.

I look forward to your response.

Sincerely,

XXXX

Brief Answer:
Can be a normal discharge.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
An increase in non odorous vaginal discharge with exercise is a normal finding. It can happen due to the effect o changing hormones also. This discharge can decrease after the periods are over. The mild tingling and burning sensation can be related to a mild nerve root irritation due to the back muscle spasm. Taking adequate rest, mild oral muscle relaxant and methylcobalamin supplements can help in improvement.
It is best to use cotton innerwears and change them twice a day to have a dry feeling. The symptoms that you have are mild and are not suggestive of any serious problem.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
