Question: my 7 year old has some kind of rash on scrotum I thought it was hair growing that's what it looks and feels like, but the dr. thought it was not hair. He also has diabetes could this be related, should I get second opinion, could it be early puberty should we have his pituitary gland checked

My son is at school now so I don't have any photos. The rash does not itch, does not bother him. I thought it was hair, it is brown/black bumps where the hair follicles are, it also feels rough like hair to me. it is not red at all. He is in sports and sweats a lot. our Dr. does not think its hair, she said that was good because she was scared it had to do with the pituitary gland. But I am not sure it is a rash. Like I said he has type 1 diabetes I just don't want something to be missed.
Thank you. XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Nothing serious. appears to be due to friction.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome again and thanks a lot for your swift response.

After getting your details let me first reassure you that as per description of the condition it doesn't appear to be anything serious or even a rash related to any internal system like pituitary or anything. Had been related to anything systemic or internal then shouldn't had confined to scrotal area.

So just relax for the possibility of anything internal or serious.

As it is not red so it rules out any acute or emergent or infective condition too.

In my view it seems to be a rash related to friction due to sports activities. It is quite common to find such kind of entities due repeated friction. Even then to confirm it and to reassure and guide you best I suggest you to send few good resolution pictures.

My all best wishes for good health of your family.
