What Does A Raised Rash Near The Arms And Armpits Indicate?
Question: I have a raised rash that is red the surrounding area all around the upper arm to the armpit is red, warm to touch and it is painful this was after removing a fentynal patch

Cellulitis is a bacterial infection of soft tissue and it is very tender, hot, red, and spreads.
If cellulitis is caught early and is in an area of the body that you can soak multiple times/day under hot water, heat is often enough to nip it in the bud.
Heat brings white blood cells to the area to help clear up the infection and also raises the skin temperature making it less hospitable for bacteria to multiply.
But cellulitis, if not caught early, can turn into a serious infection. And in the area you describe, if it is cellulitis, you will need an antibiotic.
So - I recommend going in to an urgent care or ER (depending on the hours open) now, tonight, and when there, specifically ask to be seen by a physician, not a PA or NP.
