What Does A Lumpy Flesh In Vagina Indicate?

Posted on Mon, 1 Dec 2014
Question: Hi there,
About 3 weeks ago I went to see a gynaecologist for a check up concerning my delayed menstrual cycle which was absent for 7 months, and also to get tested for sti's With the yellowish curd that I noticed on the hood of my clitoris that we discussed some weeks ago.

I'm Australian, 22 y.o, living in thailand, I found out I am 55kg and 165cm tall. I didn't feel so looked after by thai doctor, it as a very formal, brief interaction, How ever, she did a transnational ultrasound for which the results say: Normal size of uterus, very thin endometrial layer, 0.9cm, many follicles in both ovaries, different size. No free fluid in cal de sac, no abnormal mass. They did a blood test to check my hormones, thin prep pap test and Pap smear for sti, and when they called they only told me that they had found Ureaplasma and prescribed one week of flagyl 3 times daily to clear it. They didn't give me any other results as yet.

For the lack of period she prescribed primolut-N, but didn't give me any information besides it would enduce my period and that I could go on the contraceptive pill if I wanted to regulate my periods (which I'm not so inclined).

I didn't take the Primolut and just 3 days ago I got my period, and have completed the course of antibiotics, yet as the sign for the infection were basically undetected I'm not sure whether it's cleared or not and if I need to get another test to make sure?

I now have a new issue, when I was cleaning my vagina about a week ago now, I felt a lumpy flesh right in the opening of my vagina, that is about a cm or so in diameter from the inside top of my vaginal wall.
I have no idea what this is, if it is dangerous or what to do about it, it's the first time I've ever had something like this. I will attatched a photo for you to see.

Kind regards,
XXXX

Brief Answer:
GET A SWAB, UPLOAD MORE PICS AND HORMONE REPORTS

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Thank you for trusting me once more with your health concern.
Let me address all your issues separately -
1. First is your irregular cycles. I suggested the hormonal evaluation for you, and the pelvic ultrasound scan. The scan seems normal, and you need to get the reports of the hormones in hand and upload them if possible so that I can go through that, and suggest further modifications.
2. Regarding the infection, since you have completed the antibiotics, yes , you need to have a repeat internal exam and a vaginal swab and culture, which will confirm that the Ureaplasma has been cleared off .
3. About the mass in the vagina, was this never noticed by you earlier ? It should have been seen if you were evaluated by a gynaecologist. The picture is not clear, I would appreciate it if you could take some more snaps , parting the labia a bit more and trying to focus the fleshy lump more clearly. Seeing what I can right now, it seems to be a vaginal polyp / vaginal cyst. These are generally not dangerous at all, they are benign outgrowths of the normal vaginal mucosa.
They are easily removed under local anesthesia also, so it is nothing to worry about.
Please upload clearer pictures, and yes, you need to see a qualified gynecologist you can trust in Thailand to confirm this diagnosis, remove the mass, and perform a vaginal exam and swab for you.
Hope this answer helped you.
Feel free to write back.
Take care.
