Posted on Wed, 19 Jul 2017
Question: About a week ago I developed a round spot on my knee that has a rosy red ring with a pale center. I've put polysporin on it and come cortisone I have for eczema but it's very slow in healing. My dad died of complications from Lyme disease and this scares me

I have taken a picture with my phone but can't find links on your website to upload it.

Brief Answer:
Looks like pyoderma, oral and topical antibiotics

Detailed Answer:
I have reviewed the attached photographs and it seems to be pyoderma which is a bacterial infection.
Although it is not looking like a skin lesion of lyme disease but to be absolutely sure you need to go for serlogy test.
Moreover do you have any complaints like pain, burning or itching in this lesion?
Are you having history of joint pains, fatigue, fever or any other systemic complaints?
Meanwhile you need to take oral and topical antibiotics for this lesion.
If I was your treating doctor I would recommend you to take tablet amoxicillin 1 gram thrice daily for 2-3 weeks and apply mupirocin cream or fusidic acid cream on the affected area twice daily.
These are prescription drugs and you need to see the doctor in person to get them.
