default
Posted on Mon, 13 Mar 2017
Question: Left lower leg has a bulge and was hot to the touch until I raised my leg and put some Voltarin cream on it. I had a DVT in that leg in2014 and take 15 mg if xaralto every day and 10mg of amlodidene daily. Should I be doing something different?

Brief Answer:
As detailed below.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
To recapitulate: Female/66 - DVT in left leg in 2014 - taking Xaralto 15 and Amlodidene/amplodipine 10 - now has the bulge in left lower leg - was hot to touch - until raised the leg and put Voltarin cream - wants to know whether to be doing something different...
First of all, we have to identify the cause of the present problem.
With the history of DVT in past it is best to get the ultrasound and color doppler of the affected limb to get evidence based diagnosis to be sure about it.
Also to get the blood tests done for CBC, Coagulation studies although these are not much indicated with Xaralto. Your treating Doctor can guide you the best.

Please give some details for me to assist you better:
Since when has this occurred?
Any history of trauma or so?
Is the swelling soft and fluctuant ?
Any other information that you would like to share.
Please post clear and focused photos as it helps sometimes.

I hope this answers helps you.
Awaiting for your feedback and photos.
With Regards.
