Question: Greetings, Hope this email finds you in good spirits. I'm concerned about a net like bruise pattern on my back. Its not an impression of any kind. Haven't hit it on anything or in anyway. Spine was hurting between 2 vertebrae on my spine...two weeks prior to noticing mark on my back on 20th of this month. the first three pictures were taken on 21st and the last on the 27...I saw my nurse practitioner and he seemed to be at a loss. I would greatly appreciate any insight on the condition and find out if its necessary to see my doctor b4 my next scheduled appt on November 19th. Thanks in advance.

Brief Answer:
It is not a bone related issue

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have studied your case and I can assure you that it is not related to spine pain. These rashes are most probably an allergic reaction. ( Contact dermatitis) If you are taking any medicines than it can be due to those medicines also.

You have not mentioned if you are having any associated symptoms like itching, burning, fever or joint pain. If yes than I would recommend you to show it to a skin specialist as early as possible. Meanwhile avoid using any home remedy or any cream. I would also recommend you to stop any medicines which you are taking.

I hope this answer will be useful for you. Let me know if there is any other followup questions.

Thanks.

Thank you and I'm not taking any medications except ones I've been taking for over 14 yrs. There is no itching, burning, discomfort of any kind. Its not a rash which was confirmed by doctor. It is literally bruised yet I've done nothing different, have not traumatized the area in anyway that I can think of. Capillaries seem to be at top of skin. The only thing that I found my symptoms to be close to is livedo reticularis, caused by extreme cold, however, I have not been exposed to any cold of any kind, especially concentrated on my back. Im in the South. Could heat maybe cause this?

Brief Answer:
it can be livedo reticularis idiopathic variety

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
On picture it looks like livedo reticularis but I think it is better if a skin doctor examine it. As far as cause is concern cold is commonest cause but some time it can be idiopathic variety and there is no obvious cause is present. So it can be of that type.
Good thing with livedo reticularis is that it usually improves by its own. So there is no drugs needed.
thanks
