What Does A Bruise Close To The Vaginal Opening Indicate?

default
Posted on Mon, 28 Jul 2014
Question: 3 days ago I noticed a bruise close to my vaginal opening. I assumed that the reason behind it was an uncomfortable underwear that I was slping in the night before. During the night i was constantly pulling out wedgies and that may have irritated my skin to the point of bruising. Later on that day, I had intercourse which of course worsened the situation. I wasn't particularly concerned, figured the bruising would heal soon enough. Unfortunately, that has not been the case. The pain has steadily increased to the point where it's uncomfortable moving and sitting. Cleaning the area is also tricky and very painful. I used a mirror to look at it and the area surrounding my vaginal opening is completely bruised. No sores, just redness as if there are a number of cuts. Just on the inside I noticed small sores, maybe around 2 or 3. I have eczema so I was wondering if this is a result of dryness and what I should use to treat it. There is also the concern that yeast or ureaplasma might be involved somehow. Starting today, I used hydrocortisome cream to treat my problem. There isn't much itching. There was no itching at all initially but today the affected areas mildy itch. What do you recommend?

Brief Answer:
FOLLOW THE ADVICE.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

According to your information, it is MOSTLY suggestive of bruise around vaginal region, due to repeated friction and irritation with clothes. Rough sex is another cause for the same.

TREATMENT: 1) Don't be worried much. It will heal up automatically within few days to one week.

2) Apply combined Clotrimazole and Betamethasone cream (like LOTRISONE) twice daily to get some relieve.

3) Hot water soaked pad compression will be helpful. Don't wear underwear or tight pant for 7-10 days or till it is recovered completely.

4) Avoid using chemical subs like soap/ detergent, lubricant, perfume, scented bath product around genital region. Wash with plain water only.

5) Avoid unprotected sex until it is resolved. Drink plenty of water and take adequate rest.

Hope, it helps for your information. Kindly, close the discussion if you don't have any other query.

Wish your good health and take care yourself.

Regards,
Dr Soumen
