What Does A 3mm Polyp In Nostril Indicate?

default
Posted on Sat, 29 Mar 2014
Question: In late 2012, I had persistent cough and runny nose. So in January 2013, I went for a consultation with an ENT Specialist and more detail tests such as scope, imaging and x-ray were performed. A 3mm polyp was found on one side of my nostril. I have attached the findings. The doctor put me on Avamys for a month. I was told it is not life threatening. My question is after 1 year from the results, shall I get it checked again? Is it XXXXXXX or cancerous?

Brief Answer: It is not XXXXXXX Detailed Answer: Hello Single pale polyps ( as seen in your case ) are a common finding on endoscopy and are mostly benign ,also many dont need any treatment at all. The avamys spray would have taken care of the polyp and i dont think you have to worry now! However if you have nasal block, snoring, running nose , cough or facial pain, i would like you to meet your ent doctor for repeat endoscopy. otherwise you dont need any more medications and will be fine, it is not likely to be cancer and you can rest assured! Take care
